Chondrite Meteorite (Chelyabinsk) Fragment
A Chondrite Meteorite Fragment from the Chelyabinsk Oblast, Ural Mountains, Russia.
The Chelyabinsk Meteor entered the Earth's atmosphere at approximately 9.20am on 15th February 2013. The near earth asteroid that entered the atmosphere is estimated to have been around 20m in size and travelling at around 40,000 mph. The high velocity and shallow angle of entry caused the meteor to explode at a height of approximately 18.5 miles over the Chelyabinsk Oblast, resulting in an air burst. This produced a hot cloud of dust and gas along with many small fragments of the meteorite that fell to earth. This fragment is one of them and is classed as fusion crusted due the dark brown/black surface of the fragment.

Chondrites are thought to have their origins in the formation of the Solar System and as such they carry the records of the Solar System. They can help one attune to the energies of the planets and therefore enhance one's inner wisdom. Chondrites also have a stabilising effect on the emotional body.
